ALLON3 game image
ALLON3 is a collaborative effort between myself and my mentors Vidas Salavejus and Matt Reeves. The initial idea came about when I was studying the rapid ideations during this course. I was in a chat with them both and convinced them to work on a form of rapid ideation with me. The time frame in which we set ourselves was 48 hours because we are all busy during the day with our own projects, work and social lives. However it was clear that after the 48 hours was up we had something unique. We decided to turn 48 hours into a week so we could really flesh out the environment and backstory.
I had Matt's wife think of a theme for us but not tell us until the day we started. The theme was "The poetic construction of a scream". Very difficult for a theme but we chatted for a couple of hours and first settled on the idea of a 3D audio game about someone screaming and we use that to follow a specific route. As we continued to work on the idea we quickly decided that it would be cool if the thing screaming was a creature and it was trying to lure you towards it in an attempt to kill you.
Further to this idea, we then decided to create a unique monster each to really throw the person off when they come across them. The story then ended up being centred around these three creatures all trying to kill you using a trick to lure you towards them. Creature 1 would scream in the form of a woman asking for help. Creature 2 would whisper to you telling you it was a trick and not to listen, and the final creature would tell you the route to the escape, which would turn out to be fake. All in all it created a very unique experience for horror fans. It was very well received on Patreon and ended up bringing in new business. Scrum was used during this development as we are all in different parts of the world meaning it was hard to work on this at the exact same time. As detailed above, the story changed a few times and we were able to adapt to these changes quite quickly. Each member of the team had a specific role also. Vidas was in charge of engine development in Unity, whilst Matt and I created models, music and sound effects. I am pleased to say that after the completion of this game, we had ideas to expand it all and created a new team that we are going to focus on a bi-monthly basis. The studio is called Ideation Games, based on rapid ideation.
