Updated: Jan 4, 2022

For this week’s warm-up discussion, we would like to hear your tips for finding work in games and related industries. For example, what do you think should go in your CV and portfolio? What ways do you know to find job or contracting opportunities? What are your tips for acing a job interview? If you already work in the games, tech or creative industries, how did you get there?

Please post your response in the forum, and comment on the posts of two peers.

> What do you think should go in your CV and portfolio?

Anything and everything you have done in relation to the job. Weed out the stuff that isn't relevant but feel free to talk about other things to show diversity. Your portfolio should be concise and to the point.

> What ways do you know to find job or contracting opportunities?

This has already been covered but Juan shared https://www.workwithindies.com/ (Links to an external site.) Discord servers are great as they continually post work requirements and is a great way to get into groups with other people. This is how I met Two-Star Games and the creator of Phasmophobia.

Friends!

Challenge Activity: How you present yourself online can be key to finding game development employment or business opportunities. For this week’s challenge activity, please create an online portfolio to showcase your skills. You can create one from scratch, use a website building tool such as Squarespace, or use an industry-specific portal such as ArtStation or itch.io. If you already have a portfolio, use the time to revise and improve it based on the knowledge and advice from this week.

As many of my peers have already pointed out, I don't have too much time to revamp anything so I will showcase what I have already. https://aaron-wise.itch.io/
