The trailer can be from any era and be of any style eg a teaser, a cinematic or a launch trailer. The recently released trailer for Lies of P (despite being early alpha) looks incredible.
It's a souls like game that borrows a similar style from the likes of Bloodborne.
Firstly. it really sets the tone and grabs your attention with its dark atmosphere and moody music. A creepy tune from a wind up music box. This also plays homage to the characters in the game which look mechanical in nature and need winding up.
The trailer builds up slowly with its orchestral music before diving into the action for the rest of the trailer.
